Maree is an Accredited Practising Dietitian/Nutritionist and Nutritional Epidemiologist. As a Dietitian Maree has a broad range of knowledge and experience in many areas of diet including: healthy weight management, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems, vitamin/mineral deficiency, dietary issues with the ageing process, healthy eating to prevent and manage chronic disease and optimising nutritional intake for cancer patients.

From a research perspective, Maree is particularly interested in the relationship between diet and disease with the main focus of her work directed towards nutritional and cancer epidemiology.

Maree likes to combine her work as a researcher with her clinical practice with the aim of providing the best available evidence-based and personalised nutritional advice.

Chelsea Morley

Exercise Physiologist

Chelsea provides clinical exercise therapy to a range of patients at Pier Street Medical Centre. Exercise Physiology revolves around the development of exercise and rehabilitation programs to assist patients in the management of their illness and disability.

Exercise Physiology is suitable for the following conditions.

Ingrid Sturmey

Psychologist

Ingrid is an experienced psychologist dealing in a broad range of mental health and life adjustment issues. Her approach allows people to clarify what they may need to change about themselves, their circumstances or their relationships and to feel burdens lift by not only experiencing empathy and understanding but by better managing their own emotions and changing habitual behaviours that don’t work for them or others. She emphasises action – thinking about things and doing things differently to get a different result - even in the most emotional areas of life. Karen Thorne

Diabetes Educator

Karen's role is to provide education to people with pre- diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes and Gestational Diabetes. Diabetes self -management strategies are discussed. Karen is able to assist with medication management including injectable diabetes medications. Karen is an RN Credentialed Diabetes Educator

Nicholas Barnes

Podiatrist

Nick has over 6 years of experience in private practice. He has a strong background in biomechanics and sports injuries including diagnosis and management of foot, leg, back, hip, knee and ankle injuries, as well as recovery following surgery. Nick understands your foot function, helping him prescribe you the right orthotic if required and suggest appropriate footwear for your arch profile.

Nick also helps to treat painful toenails, corns, calluses, bunions and is here to give good advice for your lower limb. He is well trained in diabetic management and has a keen interest in systemic health. Additionally, Nick is trained in Western Medical Acupuncture, Foot Mobilisation Techniques and has a strong interest in paediatric pain, alignment & walking disorders.

Petra Held

Practice Manager

Petra has about 6 years’ experience as a Practice Manager in General Practice. She has managed a large 20 doctor practice, medium size practice, and her most recent role was to set up and manage a brand new practice. Over time she has gained a Certificate 4 in Health Administration and has just recently completed a Diploma in Practice Management. She has a strong Customer Service focus which compliments her communication skills. Petra looks forward to bringing her knowledge and skills to PSMC as well as expanding on them.

Anna enjoys being part of the PSMC team. She has been with PSMC for over 10 years and enjoys getting to know all the patients and their families.

Sharyn has been a receptionist at PSMC for almost 5 years. She enjoys the caring Staff and lovely patients.

Lorie joined the PSMC team as a Medical Receptionist in November 2011, she enjoys the daily challenges of working at PSMC, and interacting between the wonderful patients. Lorie has had over 12 years’ experience working as a Medical Receptionist in both Private & Bulk Billing sectors.

Tara joined the PSMC team as a Receptionist in December 2013. Tara has 12 yrs experience in Medical and Dental, with extensive experience in customer service. She enjoys meeting new people and caring for patients

Judy Stephen

Judy was originally a member of the PSMC reception team in 2010 and left to pursue other interests, however, st enjoyed her role at PSMC so much the first time, she re-joined the team in August 2014. We are very pleased to have her back. Judy has many years’ experience as a medical receptionist and enjoys interacting with the patients.

Sue Johnstone

Nurse

Sue has a worked at Pier Street Medical Centre since 2008. She is an accredited Nurse Immuniser and has a special interest in wound care, health education and illness prevention. She enjoys the family-centred approach of general practice nursing.

Sonja Berryman

Nurse

Sonja is qualified as a Div 1 RN and hold a Graduate Diploma in Critical Care. In addition to working as a Practice Nurse at PSMC she works as an Emergency Nurse in a large hospital. Both roles are interesting and challenging and provide a good professional balance.
